PostNest - Data Deletion
Last updated: October 5, 2026
This page explains how to delete the data PostNest holds about you or about an account you connected, and what happens when you do. It is part of our Privacy Policy.
1. Disconnect an account in PostNest
In the PostNest app, open the brand that uses the account and disconnect it. When you do, PostNest Cloud immediately:
- revokes, where the platform allows it, and deletes the access token for that account;
- cancels any scheduled posts for that account that have not yet published, and deletes their staged media;
- deletes the Inbox comments, publishing records, and voice profile obtained from that account.
Your drafts and brands are not affected; you can delete them in the PostNest app at any time.
2. Remove PostNest's access in the platform's settings
You can also remove PostNest from the platform's own settings for connected apps - for example, Facebook's "Business integrations" or "Apps and websites" settings, Instagram's "Apps and websites", X's "Connected apps", LinkedIn's "Permitted services", or TikTok's app-permission settings. Once access is removed, PostNest can no longer act on that account.
When a platform notifies us that you removed PostNest (for example, Meta's deauthorization notice, or TikTok's notice that an authorization was removed), we delete that account's data exactly as if you had disconnected it in PostNest. If a platform does not notify us, we delete it as soon as we find that our access no longer works.
3. Facebook and Instagram data deletion requests
When you remove PostNest in your Facebook settings, Facebook lets you also ask PostNest to delete the data it received about you. Here is how that request works:
- Facebook sends PostNest a signed deletion request that identifies your account. PostNest verifies Facebook's signature before acting on it.
- PostNest deletes the data it holds from that Facebook or Instagram account - access tokens, connection details, scheduled posts and staged media, publishing records, Inbox comments, and the voice profile derived from it.
- PostNest replies to Facebook with a confirmation code and a status link on postnest.io. Facebook shows you both.
- You can open the status link at any time to see whether your request is still in progress or complete. The status page shows only the request's status, not any of your data.
4. Delete your PostNest account, or ask us to delete your data
You can delete your PostNest account yourself: sign in at postnest.io, open Account, and choose Delete account. You can also email service@postnest.io from the email address on your PostNest account, with the subject "Data deletion request", and tell us whether you want your whole account deleted or only the data from a particular connected account. We will confirm the request and may need to verify that it comes from you.
When you delete your PostNest account, we end your subscription immediately, disconnect your connected accounts, and delete the data we process for you, such as Inbox comments and posts awaiting publication, within 10 days, and everything else we hold for your PostNest account within 30 days, except where the law requires us to keep something for longer (such as billing records). Your sign-in is shared with other Elledyne Labs products, so it is not deleted; email us if you want it deleted too. This includes your brands, drafts, campaigns and uploaded media. Copies in our backups expire within 14 days, as described in the Privacy Policy.
5. If you commented on a PostNest customer's post
PostNest may have stored your username and comment because you commented on a post published by a PostNest customer. We delete it automatically within the periods in our Privacy Policy (at most 30 days, and sooner for LinkedIn and X). You can also email service@postnest.io with a link to the comment, and we will delete our copy.
6. What happens automatically
Even if you do nothing, PostNest deletes data on a schedule:
- Inbox comments: LinkedIn after 24 hours (in any case within 48 hours), X after 7 days, other platforms after 30 days.
- Staged media: 7 days after a post is published or cancelled.
- Before you draft a reply to an X post, we check it again and delete our copy if it has been deleted or made private.
- When X asks us to delete X content, we delete it within 24 hours.
